Chindia: The fight between Dragon and Tiger

The debate about comparisons between China and India is an interesting one. While both have similar huge human capital, China is way ahead in terms of infrastucture.

Economists don't see India overtaking China in terms of GDP even in 2050. But here's a different take on the issue. Read on......

What is the national animal of the two countries? Well, China has the Dragon and India has its Tigers.

Dragons are so many times more powerful than Tigers, you'll say.

But where are they? So while we still have some Tigers left, there are no Dragons surviving in China. Survival of the fittest!!

So the Tigers win! Atleast some of them are still alive!!

First of all, I'd like to congratulate Mr. Varma for his short, yet laconic piece.

I like your comparision of the two giant economies, but I feel the best way forward would be marching together. If there are only a few tigers left, another Predator will try to assert its superiority, and establish itself at the top of the pecking order. I guess the eagle will be waiting for that day when India and China will maul each other out of contention.

So as I said before, united we stand, divided we fall!

For more substantial backing of the above stated points :

Have a nice day!

A good analogy. The rise of India and China is inevitable. And, so is the competition as both of them seek their place in the sun.

50 years is, however, a long time in the history of nations. We never know in what form these two countries will exist in 2050 (who could have predicted the fall of mighty Soviet Union?). Not only politics, even economic cycles have the knack of springing surprises and shocks. What if there is a reversal in the process of gloablisation? What if the western economies resort to more and more protectionist policies?
Neither India nor china is part of a major trade bloc.

Nice analogy about both the economies comparing them to that of the national animals. While China continues to follow its communist principles which may sometimes violate the human values, India today has lost its own heritage (compared to the ancient India) and is ruled by ignorant law makers. Both the growing economies have some problem with their basics.
According to me, if the same exists further both the Dragons and Tigers will perish. You see both Dragons and Tigers are wild animals and not like the Cow, Bull, or a Kangaroo. (My own analogy)
